How To Press DTF Transfers

Press it right the first time

How to press DTF transfers the right way.

Clean press. Strong bond. Better feel. Follow these steps to get consistent results and avoid peeling, wrinkles, and weak adhesion.

If you want the fastest way to get this right, start here. Then use the written steps below as your quick reference while pressing.

⚙️ Quick Press Settings

🌡️ Temperature: 290°F   |   🧱 Pressure: Medium-Firm

🔥 Step-by-step pressing instructions

Follow these steps in order for a clean, durable press.

1️⃣ Pre-Press Garment

Press the garment by itself for 5 seconds to remove moisture and wrinkles. A flat, dry surface helps the transfer bond correctly.

2️⃣ Place Transfer

Place the transfer sticky side down and align it carefully on the garment before pressing.

3️⃣ Cover & Press

Cover the transfer and press for 5 seconds using medium-firm pressure.

4️⃣ Peel Hot

Peel the film immediately while hot. Do not wait for it to cool unless you are testing a specific material.

5️⃣ Final Press

Final press for 10 seconds using parchment paper or teflon. This helps lock in the transfer and improve the final finish.

6️⃣ Rock Your Custom Merch

That’s it. If the transfer is smooth, fully adhered, and clean around the edges, you’re good to go.

⚠️ Common pressing mistakes

😬 Wrinkles under the transfer

Usually caused by skipping the pre-press step or placing the transfer on an uneven surface.

🧊 Weak adhesion or peeling

Usually caused by not enough pressure, not enough heat, or not doing the final press.

🔥 Over-pressing

Too much time or heat can affect the finish. Stick close to the recommended settings and test if needed.
